Uncle AL’s Holiday Decorations
We are an up and coming company in the outdoor Christmas decoration business. We have a product line of 250+ residential decorations and 50+ commercial decorations. All of our decorations are made from quarter inch to half inch powder coated steel. Orders placed for Christmas 2007 will be illuminated with LED mini lights. The clear and colored LED mini lights have an average burn life of 80,000 and 100,000 hours respectively. The gauge of steel and LED mini lights that our decorations are made from, have a usage life of twenty plus years. By using the LED mini lights (UL approved) we can offer bigger, brighter decorations that can have up to approximately 2,700 lights on a single electrical plug.
The vast majority of our decorations are silhouettes (flat). We have found that consumers will purchase more items or create larger scenes when the decorations are easy or take less room to store.
Most of our decorations are solid construction, (one piece). Some of our larger decorations slip together with couplings. The lights are already attached.
We are creating a brand name for outdoor decorations. When your customers come in and see the Uncle AL’s name on the box they will know what they are getting a unique, dependable, long-lasting decoration that can be handed down to the next generation. Just like a father giving his son or daughter his twenty-year old John Deere lawn tractor.
Uncle AL’s Seasonal Retail Inc. started in the Christmas tree business in 1992. We wanted to decorate our sales location in order to stand out from the competition and to help get people into the spirit of the Holidays, (we’re located in Fort Myers FL). I knew that we would be in the Christmas tree business at the same location for many years and that people would come to expect to see the decorations annually, we had no intention of selling them. After shopping around and not being able to find decorations that were unique and built to last, I decided to design and build my own. I built 25 different decorations. We displayed them on Thanksgiving Day, and drew attention from all of the local news stations and newspapers. I ended up selling all 25 decorations in one day!
Since then our customer base has grown drastically. We supply all of the local cities, countless country clubs, all of the Seminole Indian tribe’s common grounds and the Seminole Hard Rock Casino ... just to name a few of our larger local commercial accounts ... as well as roughly 3,000 decorations we sell annually to residential and small business.
Every year we have hundreds of customers come in the first few days we are open just to see what new items we have.
We were approached by a buyer from a major retailer in December 2005, and asked to put our products in their stores for the 2007 Holiday season. We are currently working on contracts with several other major retailers as well. Our plan is to put different designs of decorations into different chains. For example you would only be able to purchase our Medium 2D Wreath at Costco, or Santa on a Motorcycle Pulling a Cart Full of Toys at Lowes. This will increase business for all.
With the extensive line of decorations we have, you could put ten different decorations in your stores and not repeat a decoration for 25 plus years.
Very few of the factories that make the wire frames have the ability to work with the heavy gauge steel that we use in our decorations. Currently we have two factories manufacturing our decorations in China. We are speaking with two others in regards to modifying their equipment to accommodate our large wire size.
